WOMEN FLOAT: A NOVELLA
Chicago Center for Literature and Photography, Summer 2013
Women Float is coming-of-age story about Win, a young woman who decides to learn to swim as an adult, and in the process reconciles her best friend's pregnancy, her own emerging sexuality and abandonment by her mother as a child. Set in the small beach town of Carpinteria, California, the novel highlights SoCal's realistic characters and geography, showing moments that rarely emerge in the typical neon-tinged perspective of that area. Women Float uses subtleties to show the depth and complexity of female relationships within a distinctive locale.
